About Eclectic Wonders
|
| |
Eclectic Wonders is a small company located in scenic Windsor, Connecticut. Every item offered is hand made by the artist. Everything produced is a one of a kind item. All items are designed and made by Bill.
Many items are made from vintage and heirloom components. Bill scours our local flea markets for silverware, found objects and other cool stuff, things that can find a new life as part of his work.
Bill's creative side is shown in the giant bugs, snakes and other creations. These often contain recycled industrial bulbs or radio vacuum tubes, copper parts, springs, found objects along with jewelry quality components. They will develop a wonderful patina as they age.
Eclectic Wonders is available to a select number of galleries, gift and antique shops. Please contact if you are interested in carrying Eclectic Wonders' products in your store.
Hope you enjoy the collection!

Artist's Statement
Eclectic Wonders has been Bill Herzfeld's dream for years. After years working in the corporate world he decided it was time for a change. His art has now become his arena for artistic & personal growth. As a self-taught artist, Bill constantly explores and experiments and takes risks. When asked why, "this is the fun part, why be normal" is his reply. If asked to describe his art, Bill responds that he makes "stuff out of stuff", what he calls uncommon art. There's more than that though, Old and found pieces are combined with new, things are hammered and heated for texture, copper, stainless steel or other materials are often used. Small details are the norm, when the viewer looks close or a second time, there are new things to be seen. Everything has a sense of whimsy, giant bugs are eating parts of old machines, and discarded things take on a new life as part of Bill's creations. Discarded bike fenders become parts of cattails; Vintage Croquet mallets become giant dragonflies. Old industrial light bulbs become giant insects. Flowers and plants, bugs, alligators, animals and figures, large wind sculptures made from old discarded tanks, all are hand made, all made one at a time, each different, distinct and unique.
In October of 2006, Bill's works of art were showcased by The Windsor Historical Society as part of "Windsor Artists Then & Now". Bill participated in the "Spotlight on 3-D Windsor Artists Bus tour".
" I enjoy watching viewers reaction to my art, they usually smile, look again and see something they missed the first time."
Bill has also been featured in numerous newspaper articles. He also frequently donates to locally based community activities and has volunteered, using his art to entertain elderly adult day care clients in Windsor.
In December of 2006, Bill was filmed making a giant bug for an upcoming episode of HGTV's popular show "That's Clever".
Eclectic Wonders has been a member of the Windsor Chamber of Commerce since 2004.
